At Dugdale Bros, we’re never in one place for too long. Of course, we’ve been proudly based in Huddersfield since our establishment in 1896, but we love travelling further afield to spread the word of our fine cloths and illustrious heritage.
With a growing client base scattered across the globe, we make every effort to visit our valued customers when we can, to catch up with their latest news and to share our most recent collections with them. So last week, our MD Simon Glendenning packed his bags and headed back to Asia for his second trip in 2017 – this time to catch up with clients in Hong Kong, Vietnam, China, South Korea and Japan.
Hong Kong to Hanoi
Beginning his journey in Hong Kong, Simon spent a few days exploring the stylish destination and visiting clients in the region. Having only visited back in April, Simon spent a short amount of time catching up with Dugdale’s distributors before venturing West to Hanoi.
The pace of life in Vietnam’s capital is certainly frantic and visitors quickly get caught up in the city’s energy and buzz. This is especially true when, like Simon, you choose to embrace the locals’ preferred mode of transport and travel in style on the back of a motorbike! In the bustling streets, being able to weave in and out of the traffic is the best way to make it from A to B, and Simon managed it without even wrinkling his suit.
Making an effort to visit as many of Dugdale’s loyal clients as possible whilst in Vietnam, he made his way to a number of tailors including HQ Empire, Ngo Minh, Adam Thanh and Chuong Tailor. No overseas trip is complete without taking time to soak up the local culture, so he also squeezed in a few culinary treats – including a visit to the local favourite, Restaurant Delicious.
Shanghai to Seoul and beyond
Moving on from Hanoi, Simon made his way to Shanghai, where he will be attending the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics showcase. Taking place from 11th to 13th October, the event will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in the city and is one of the world’s largest textiles industry trade shows.
Simon will be showing delegates Dugdale’s wide range of fine cloths from stand H64 in Hall 6.2 – the ‘Premium Wool Zone’. We will certainly be in good company, with many other renowned industry names from the UK as well as France, Italy, China, Japan and Peru also exhibiting. Events like these are always a highlight in our calendar as they provide fantastic opportunities for us to continue sharing our story and fabrics across the world.
After the event, Simon will be travelling onto South Korea and Japan for the second time this year, again catching up with couturiers and tailors there and showing them our latest ranges.
