There’s no denying that 2017 has been a standout year for Huddersfield. Rising through the ranks after years of battling, our beloved football team has finally, amazingly, made it to the top with their promotion into the premiership. (Let us never forget those fleeting weeks when we were at the very top of the table too…)
And aside from our pride at having another reason to wax lyrical about our hometown, at Dugdale we’re thrilled to be playing our own small part in this monumental moment in Huddersfield’s history by supplying the fabric for the management team’s new suits.
We’re big believers in dressing for the occasion, and a Premier League team deserves premier league cloth – not to mention a superior standard of tailoring.
Also based in Huddersfield, Owen Scott Tailors will be the craftsmen behind the board’s new suits. And last week, we were delighted to welcome HTAFC’s chairman Dean Hoyle and commercial director Sean Jarvis, along with Scott Hufton and Andy Littlewood from Owen Scott, to join us for an afternoon at The Towers.
It was a real joy comparing notes on our collective lifelong pride in our hometown, not to mention discussing how we can collaborate further in our common goal to put it back on the map. Dean and Sean have a great knowledge of the textiles industry and a real regard for how it helped shape Huddersfield’s worldwide reputation, plus – closer to home – our public spaces, landmark buildings and institutions. One of these, of course, being our football club.
So, with Owen Scott recently hitting the headlines thanks to its emerging celebrity clientele, Dugdale continuing to provide our cloth to the world’s finest design houses and tailors, and Huddersfield Town finally reaching the dizzying heights of the premiership – the most followed football league in existence – it goes without saying that we are all enjoying our successes. But what unites us more than anything is that we are all proud purveyors of the glory of our magnificent town.
